# Thrift store computing

Thrift store computing is my less-radical more-practical take on [Permacomputing](https://permacomputing.net/). It acknowledges that in current society **computers are actually plentiful** not some scarce resource. This will (probably) be also true in post-collapse situation.

## principles

- use devices that you already have
- use existing software

## challenges

- old devices are in unknown state, you need some skills to diagnose them
- you often need to reinstall computers before using it
